Previous Projects

In the past, MAR has implemented several projects including providing consultancy through institutional support programs to Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) especially for biodiversity and spatial planning. In addition, MAR has implemented recycling projects in the past. Moreover, MAR has provided several training programs in economic and environmental fields.

MAR from October 2005 is engaged as a local partner of AGRIFOR Consult-led Consortia (Belgium) in further strengthening of institutional capacities of Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning. MAR has provided local experts and expertise in environmental and spatial planning issues to AGRIFOR.

One of the biggest achievements of MAR was creation of “Aarhus Convention Coalition” that is consisted from environmental NGO’s. The aim of this coalition is to contribute in inclusion of three provisions of Aarhus Convention in EPL (Environmental Protection Law) and to serve as a catalyst in speeding up the process of ratification of Aarhus Convention in Kosovo.

As a result of all these activities implemented by MAR and “Kosovar Coalition for Aarhus Convention” we have achieved to include two principles of Aarhus Convention in EPL of Kosova.

Objectives of the project were: 1).to help raise awareness of the citizens about importance of waste classifying, sorting, and recycling and for using products with recyclable packaging. 2).introduce mechanisms of cooperation between authorities, Ngo’s, recycling companies and wholesaler, to prevent the import of products with non recycling packaging with the aim to stimulate the process of waste recycling in Kosova.

The main goal was to introduce the process of classification of urban solid waste in the city of Gjakova, which will serve as a model of sustainable waste management and incomes generation.
